Acadia Island
Acadia Island is the largest of the four islets (motu) that comprise Ducie Atoll, an uninhabited, highly isolated coral atoll located in the eastern South Pacific Ocean as part of the Pitcairn Islands British Overseas Territory. Forming the northern and eastern rim of the atoll, Acadia covers roughly 57 hectares (140 acres), accounting for the vast majority of Ducie Atoll's total land area. The island was named after the North American mail steamer Acadia, which ran aground on the atoll's reef in 1881.
