Oeno Island
Oeno Island is a small, uninhabited island located in Oeno Atoll in the South Pacific Ocean, approximately 120 kilometres northwest of Pitcairn Island. It forms part of the Pitcairn Islands, a British Overseas Territory, and covers approximately 65–80 hectares. The island consists of low-lying coral sand and sediment, supporting coastal vegetation, shrubs and small forests. At its northern end, a shifting sand formation known as Sandy Islet developed from a sand spit that was gradually separated from the main island by waves and sediment movement. Despite its limited size, Oeno Island has considerable ecological importance due to its large seabird populations and relatively undisturbed natural environment.
